SEEING THE BRAIN WITH LIGHT, WITH DR. PETERKA
The brain is a fascinatingly complex organ, with many hidden mysteries. What are some of the tools and tricks we use to help reveal its secrets?
Optical methods - techniques that rely on light, such as microscopes - are becoming a mainstay of modern neuroscience, the study of the brain and nervous system. With new microscopy techniques, we can look at features both big and small. While some of these tools involve high-tech engineering, others are borrowed directly from nature. And it is only by considering both that we get the views we want, and can watch the brain as it is working.
Note: Science Happy Hours are public events. Photo and/or video recording may be taken. If you prefer not to be included in any recording, please just let us know.
